Becky Bates is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Integrated Engineering at Minnesota State University, Mankato where she directs two award-winning, upper-division, project-based learning engineering programs, Iron Range Engineering & Twin Cities Engineering, that articulate with community college engineering programs. The department is currently building a new co-op-based engineering program that will serve a national audience of community college graduates, addressing issues of access and equity within engineering education. She has been a rotator Program Director at the National Science Foundation in the Divisions of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Undergraduate Education (DUE) in the Directorate of Education and Human Resources. She has a long history of collaborative research projects and efforts to build community across engineering education researchers and STEM educators. Becky has presented a variety of workshops that support academics in driving positive change and innovation, whether that is personal, for their departments and programs, or for their research and academic communities. She has served in multiple roles on the ASEE Committee on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion since 2015.
