Agenda

  • Networking with a guiding prompt // 30 Minutes

    • This time is focused on relationship building and nurturing the community.

    • We’ll divide into breakout groups where you’ll have the opportunity to meet other people. Depending on the number of participants, we may do two networking rotations.

  • Work-in-progress Collaboration // 60 minutes

    • This hour is focused on discussion and feedback on diversity, equity, and inclusion related projects.

    • We’ll divide into breakout groups. Each person will have the opportunity to ask specific diversity, equity, and inclusion questions related to their work. We will help you scaffold your time and provide guidelines for a productive discussion.

Who should attend:

  • This series is created for people who care about diversity, equity, and inclusion in engineering education, as a part of the American Society for Engineering Education Commission on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

  • However, anyone who cares about DEI in any context is welcome.

What will you gain out of participating in this event?

  • You will likely experience a sense of community and belonging amongst like-minded individuals.

  • You will expand your network.

  • You will contribute to the work of others, enhancing their DEI components.

  • You will have the opportunity to receive feedback on your own work.

How to prepare and what not to expect:

  • Come with specific questions situated within a simplified and brief context.

  • Each person will have about 10 minutes during the breakout session.

  • If you don’t have anything that needs feedback, that’s okay! You can help others.

  • Don’t expect someone to read your paper during the hour. For resources on writing diversity paper, including a rubric and score sheet, visit the CDEI website here.

  • Don’t expect someone to edit your paper or do an analysis for you.
