Dr. Christina Alston
Christina Alston holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston, a master’s in science education, and a bachelor’s in biomedical science from Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Dr. Alston is an award-winning educator, researcher, and Director of the Colorado Diversity Initiative (CD) at the University of Colorado Boulder’s Graduate School. With a strong academic background, including a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston, Dr. Alston leads with a passionate commitment to advancing diversity in STEM. Dr. Alston is a decorated academic, holding distinctions like the Pre-College Engineering Education Meritorious Service Award from the American Society for Engineering Education. She has an extensive publication record, spanning topics from STEM engagement of Black female students to the pedagogy of academic writing. Notably, Dr. Alston’s contributions extend to collaborative research endeavors such as the Cancer Health Activism Network for Greater Equity (CHANGE) and the NSF-funded project GP-IN: Inclusive Learning through Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences (ILEEPS). In both capacities, she centers the narrative on social justice and cultural inclusivity, transforming educational experiences for marginalized communities.
